Tracing the Origin and Evolutionary History ofPyricularia oryzaeInfecting Maize and Barnyard Grass

چکیده
Blast disease is a notorious fungal leading to dramatic yield losses on major food crops such as rice and wheat. The causal agent, Pyricularia oryzae, encompasses different lineages, each having host range. Host shifts are suspected have occurred in this species from Setaria spp. Lolium emergence of blast maize Iran was observed for the first time north country 2012. We later identified two additional regions Iran: Gilan 2013 Golestan 2016. Epidemics weed barnyard grass (Echinochloa spp.) were also same fields. Here, we showed that P. oryzae agent both hosts. Pathogenicity assays greenhouse revealed strains can infect conversely. However, genotyping with simple sequence repeat markers comparative genomics causing field epidemics different, although they belong previously undescribed clade oryzae. Phylogenetic analyses including these strain collected Gabon 1985 independent host-range expansion events maize. Comparative between presence or absence five candidate genes associated specificity maize, deletion small genomic region possibly responsible adaptation This recent provides case study understand range expansion. raise concerns about potential crop geographic disease.

15 صفحه اولTracing the origin and history of the HIV-2 epidemic.
In this study we date the introduction of HIV-2 into the human population and estimate the epidemic history of HIV-2 subtype A in Guinea-Bissau, the putative geographic origin of HIV-2. The evolutionary history of the simian immunodeficiency virussooty mangabey/HIV-2 lineage was reconstructed by using available database sequences with known sampling dates, and a timescale for this history was c...
متن کاملThe evolutionary origin and population history of the grauer gorilla.
Gorillas living in western central Africa (Gorilla gorilla) are morphologically and genetically distinguishable from those living in eastern central Africa (Gorilla beringei). Genomic analyses show eastern gorillas experienced a significant reduction in population size during the Pleistocene subsequent to geographical isolation from their western counterparts. However, how these results relate ...
متن کاملOn the Origin and Evolutionary History of NANOG
Though pluripotency is well characterized in mammals, many questions remain to be resolved regarding its evolutionary history. A necessary prerequisite for addressing this issue is to determine the phylogenetic distributions and orthology relationships of the transcription factor families sustaining or modulating this property. In mammals, the NANOG homeodomain transcription factor is one of th...

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) originated via a process of natural evolution, probably emerging from the primate SIV reservoir into the human population via hunting or other behavior involving contact with the blood of these animals. A particular subspecies of chimpanzee, the Pantroglodytes troglodytes, has been recognized as the most probable original source of human infection. Analysi...
